Test-Optional Colleges: 950+
Today I attended an excellent, informative workshop presented by the College Board (the SAT people). There's some great stuff in the works (my favorite is that Khan Academy is working toward offering AP exam prep in the future!), but I know an awful lot of folks whose standardized tests just are never going to adequately reflect their academic abilities or potential. If that's you, I want to encourage you to take a look at FairTest, which lists the MANY colleges that are test-optional or test-flexible in their admissions process. Did you know that there are now over 950 such schools?! And these are all sorts of schools, including names you know, like Wake Forest, George Washington, Temple... the list goes on and on.
